Charles Hoy Fort (1874-1932) is recognised as being the father of paranormal research.  In his many books, Fort reported on many strange events and phenomena, publishing varying theories upon them, keeping an open mind to all and neither accepting nor rejecting any given one.

Today Forteans carry on that tradition, studying and reporting on the paranormal, unexplained, strange and downright weird in an entertaining manner, with a healthy skepticism and never accepting any given hypothesis.

Charles Hoy Fort said it best himself, “One measures a circle beginning anywhere.”

As both a Fortean and an Atheist, I hope to look at things on this blog using the philosophy of Charles Hoy Fort and another hero of mine, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, “First eliminate the impossible.  Whatever remains, however improbable, must be the proof.” (Sherlock Holmes and the Sign of Four)
